Construction flagging is a challenging job and needs the utmost attention and care. This 2-day TCP certification program is required to be completed prior to becoming a flagger. CSA-approved steel-toed boots with ankle support are required during this course.

Course Content

  • Roles and responsibilities of TCPs, employers, and supervisors
  • Regulations and standards, including those set out by the Ministry of Transportation, WorkSafeBC, and the Motor Vehicle Act
  • Traffic control equipment and devices, including personal protective equipment
  • Setting up, maintaining, and removing work zones
  • Working around equipment
  • Basic and advanced traffic control skills

Eligibility

  • Need to be 16 years or older
  • Be able to physically do the tasks in the course
  • Be able to communicate in basic English
  • Have a valid photo ID issued by the government
  • No past training is needed

Important Notes:

  • Prices can vary as they are dependent on location and provider.
  • Class starts at the indicated start time Sharp! No late participants will be admitted. 
  • Photo ID is required to receive a certificate. 
  • CSA-approved steel-toed boots with ankle support are required during this course.
  • Participants will work in pairs/groups and have physical contact with each other during the practical portions of the course. Should you have any concerns about this, please reach out to us at [email protected]  

**Please Note: If you are already registered for a class and you go to one of our other locations, in error and are late to your course, you will not be permitted into the class. If your class is on the weekend, please be advised there will be no office staff in to monitor the phones. Please ensure that you arrive at least 15 minutes early for your class!**

Certification Information

Once completed, each graduating student is issued a three-year certificate that allows them the ability to work anywhere in BC as a Traffic Control Person. This is recognized by WorkSafeBC as a valid High-Risk TCP certificate in the province. There is a multiple-choice exam that requires a minimum score of 80%. There is also a practical skills session on the roadway that each student must pass.

Course Fee Includes: All books and materials, and upon completion a certificate valid for 3 years

Cancellation &
Refund Policy

COURSE REGISTRATION CANCELLATIONS, TRANSFERS & REFUNDS:

Cancellations received at least 14 business days prior to the course will result in a full refund.

Cancellations received less than 14 business days but more than 7 full business days prior to the course are subject to an administration fee of $100 per day for full and half-day seminars, or $25 for breakfast sessions.

Registrants who do not show up for a course, and/or who do not notify BCRB at least 7 full business days prior to the course date will be assessed the full cost of the course. There will be no refunds or credits in this case.

Substitution of attendees is permitted up to and including the day of the course.

 

COURSE CANCELLATION BY BCRB:

BCRB may have to postpone or cancel courses due to insufficient enrolment, in which case BCRB's liability will be limited to a refund of the registration fee.
