Description
This one-day course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to help them identify and detect H2S, mitigate the hazards of working in an H2S environment, and respond to an incident involving an H2S release. It includes both theory and practical application exercises.
Learn how to work safely in and around hydrogen sulphide (H2S) environments. This course is designed for anyone currently working or wanting to work in the Oil & Gas Industry. The goal of H2S Alive is to prepare workers to recognize H2S hazards and protect themselves, as well as to perform a basic rescue during an H2S incident.
Topics Covered:
- Physical properties of H2S
- Health hazards of H2S
- Protection from H2S
- Basic rescue techniques
- A hands-on experience that includes operating a self-contained breathing apparatus and performing rescue lift and drag exercises
Important: Photo ID is required to receive a certificate.
Competencies:
Participants are required to complete the Energy Safety Canada written competency check to a minimum 70% level in order to obtain a passing mark.
Certification is valid for 3 years
Course Credit Information
This course is eligible for 2 CCA Gold Seal education credits upon completion.
Registrants seeking gold seal credits for this course will be required to complete an assessment during the course to qualify to have the gold seal credit endorsement appear on their certificate of completion.

Refund Policy
COURSE REGISTRATION CANCELLATIONS, TRANSFERS & REFUNDS:
Cancellations received at least 14 business days prior to the course will result in a full refund.
Cancellations received less than 14 business days but more than 7 full business days prior to the course are subject to an administration fee of $100 per day for full and half-day seminars, or $25 for breakfast sessions.
Registrants who do not show up for a course, and/or who do not notify CITN at least 7 full business days prior to the course date will be assessed the full cost of the course. There will be no refunds or credits in this case.
Substitution of attendees is permitted up to and including the day of the course.
COURSE CANCELLATION BY CITN:
CITN may have to postpone or cancel courses due to insufficient enrolment, in which case CITN’s liability will be limited to a refund of the registration fee.
